The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), established on September 27, 1999, is a public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Railways, Government of India. It was created to professionalize and manage catering and hospitality services at railway stations, on trains, and other locations, as well as to promote domestic and international tourism through the development of budget hotels, special tour packages, and global reservation systems.
